Default Insomnia cures that worked for you

Ladies and gentlemen of the forums, lend me your ears.

Every single night, I struggle to fall asleep. No matter what time I jump into bed, it takes an hour or more to a tall fall asleep. The fact that I only get in bed at midnight means that I'm only snoozing by 1am

There a plenty of suggestions on the net to cure insomnia, but I need to know what YOU have tried and what has worked (and what hasn't)

I'm gonna a go try a glass of warm milk now. Fingers crossed

    Edit : no joy

    Haha, thats drastic.

Read a book. Not sure about you, but with me I generally play games until I go to sleep, and my mind is on high alert whilst playing, so it takes about an hour to chill out. I reckon any kind of technology can do that to you, using your phone, watching tv etc. So just stop doing what you normally do and give yourself 30mins earlier than usual to chill out with a book in bed. I find you fall asleep much easier.

Ya a book might be a better option. My problem with reading a book before bed is that there's always that one more chapter

No TV,PC or phone 1 hour before bed. No snacking or eating anything for at least 1 hour before bed. Grab a book, put some easy listening music on, dim the lights or use a lamp to read. Do this when you turn all of the gadgets off, takes an hour to 45 mins to get your body ready for a a good rest. Try to get 6-8 hours of sleep at least otherwise your body will never rest fully and you will feel groggy and agro most of the day.

The bright lights and the lights from the gadgets or TV keep your brain in an awake state, so does snacking before bed. Your body is still on full blast and it takes a while to calm down. Dimming the lights and reading a book relaxes the brain and prepares it for sleep. The light dimming also helps by forcing the brain to go into sleep mode. The easy listening music could be anything from classical to easy jazz, anything that relaxes you.

If you have trouble waking up as well, try meditation as soon as you wake up. With the lights off and still in bed, start with breathing exercises to allow more oxygen into your blood, this also kickstarts your brain. Do this for about 10 mins, laying flat on your back and breathing in deep through your nose and breathing out slow through your mouth. After 10 mins turn on the lights open the curtains and eat a good breakfast. You will feel different after a few days.

Get a stream of Golf on YouTube, and watch that for a while, whilst being interested in what they are doing. If that doesn't make you tired, nothing will. It is the calmest thing that you can find on TV.
    That's what she said.

I also generally find that reading a book puts me to sleep quite quickly... Either that or i get really into it and then am awake for hours... but if im tired and i read its tickets...

Also like Spartan said, No TV or PC at least 1 hour before bed... Also if you go to Gym that will help... And do you shower at night or in the mornings?
