Thread: Digital distributors won't support Modern Warfare 2

    I think its kind of funny reading the SA response comments to this and the international response comments.

    The SA comments generally siding with the distributors on this, obviously most SA folks dislike Steam.

    International comments in general have been siding with Steam, most have no problem with the service.

    My opinion: Of all the reasons Direct 2 Drive could have chosen to boycott MW2, they chose a pretty crap one. Its not the consumer they are protecting here, but themselves, Steam being a competitor. Obviously I have no issues with Steam, I haven't had any trouble with it since upgrading to 4mb.

    It's not about Steam being crap or not. It's about bundling a competitor's product with your own.
    Just imagine if BMW had to ship their cars with the on-board computers having Audi software and branding.
    Steam the store (where you actually buy stuff) should split from Steam the service (VAC, auto patching, in game Steam overlay and friends list, etc.) as soon as possible. They are going to get an anti competition suit against them if they don't.

    Ya. I think it does in some way Also effect the standard shops where we buy games. they each maybe losing sales dude to people buy from a cheaper online source. well.... Maybe not cheaper... :|
