The whole p2p thing still does suck. Games pausing to migrate host. Trying to join a game and it's trying to set up a new one so you're in lobbies of everyone leaving to find an actual ongoing game to join. The way you can be playing then it just ends and you have to find a new match.
The system would be good as a side option a quick match, but it really does limit the options. In cod4, i pick servers often on the level. No such luxury here. I'd be happy to keep it, but the dedicated server thing, is definitely a huge minus.
All said I am enjoying the gameplay of the multiplayer, but it is inferior. The lack of lean is a huge annoyance to me. I was always a hardcore mode player and this just seems a bit simplified. You can't really take cover and lean and shoot back like you used to. It's more, run around, shoot, find a spot and shoot until someone see's you who you don't see first. It's all just less tactical, less precise. While fun, it's just a bit lacking from what you normally expect from pc games.
The levels so far are good, but there's no doubt they would be awesome with the game play of cod4 or waw.
So it's not a total loss, but even with all the matchmaking annoyances, the game play is weaker than what's expected. In the end that's whats needed for longevity. At the moment i'm happy with the nice shiny, detailed levels, but I do miss the cod4 style of gameplay.
First patch absolutely needs to add the ability to lean and dedicated servers down the line is a must. If cod4 had the matchmaking i probably still wouldn't have been playing so long.
