I figured this game deserves it's own "official" thread, so here goes.

For those who don't know, Evolve is the new game Turtle Rock Studios, the developers of Left 4 Dead.

Evolve will be a co-operative game where four hunter players attempt to defeat an alien monster controlled by another player. Both the hunters and the monsters can use unique abilities during the game. The monster player can kill wild life and other smaller monster and evolve by going into a cocoon stage. The game will take place in a large jungle, where players can take shelter. There is also various power ups that can be taken by both hunters and monsters players.

They just released a nice little trailer (no gameplay unfortunately)

The classes all play very differently, and you'll have to dispatch with a full complement of the four classes: Medic, Assault, Support and Trapper. (You can't, say, dispatch with four medics.) There is simply no way to effectively fight the monster unless you stick to your class's designated skill: The medic must shoot a healing ray at injured party members, support must fire shields at the assault guy as he attacks, the trapper must smartly restrict the movement of the beast in order to let the rest of the team do damage. Teamwork is crucial, and communication is key. Without either of those things, the monster will destroy you, particularly since the monster player doesn't have to worry about either teamwork or communication.

Yeah! I must confess I got bored with Left 4 Dead pretty quickly, but I'm very interested in seeing how this turns out.

Me too. Let's hope that the Trinity/teamplay element and added nuance of being able to play a Boss monster set it apart from L4D.

Normally they split off and do their own thing.

Game looks epic, can't wait to see the other monsters though felt the showcase one was a little boring.
