Do you leave PC on all day/night or switch on/off as required?
Lately, I have been leaving my PC on for long periods. so for example, i boot it up on a Saturday morning and then only switch off late on Sat night, even though i may only use it sporadically now and then intra-day. I have read inconclusive and conflicting reports both ways on which option is better, so decided to poll the forum to see how you guys roll
With the cost of electricity these days, I turn off every single thing I can.
So I only turn my PC on when needed, and when I'm done with it, I switch it off.
Sometimes I forget about it though.
Well i leave my pc on 24/7 only restart it maybe once or twice a week. i do this because i'm sometimes away from home for 3 days then i log in through team viewer to manage my downloads and skype with the missus. And when i come home from night shifts i sometimes feel like just hopping in and playing a game then i don't want to wait for the pc to start up or anything so i always leave my pc on, I think joker will be best to tell us if it's healthy or not

I only occasionally switch it off when I go to bed and it's not downloading something, but most of the time I just leave it on, so I can access it remotely when I need to.
the two concerns I have are :
1) Electricity consumption from PC idling away
2)Wear & Tear on the hardware
do you reckon these negligible worries ?
Like i said best person i think for that answer (wear & Tear) would be joker
