I don't get why

It's essentially a JRPG of sorts, except with beat-'em-up combat, a great story, quests and lots of things to do.

It also has your quirky "anime" sense of humour, which I totally dig

You don't necessarily have to like anime to enjoy Yakuza. I don't like anime at all (anymore), but I love me some Yakuza. The games also have a shitload of sidequests and distractions like batting cages, hostess clubs, gambling, golf, etc. which together with the story can keep you busy for quite some time.

You could almost say it's the Japanese GTA, almost.

Yeah, won't be missing much sleep over that to be honest. That trailer is also kinda crappy. Just a bunch of dudes looking in the distance like male models
