Angry DSTV, you DOOS of a corporation

i am exhausted from arguing with DSTV support people yesterday, I asked for my PVR subs to be cancelled. ever since then, I have had a broken DSTV package. Started with Error 16, which was cleared, and now i get Error 32 every 15 minutes. So its cleared, and then 15 minutes later, hey presto, ERROR 32-4

Honestly, I am FED UP with these useless twunts. every agent I speak to tells me that after they clear it, it will be gone. I have told them to escalate it, but still no joy. I am seriously considering STARSAT. what a pity we have ZERO choice in SA

Anybody here on STARSAT (the old TOP-TV)?

They're normally pretty good - DSTV. Cancel, reinstate, etc etc with no worries.
    What are all those errors?

No experience with Starsat, sorry man

Do yourself a favour...cancel DStv, upgrade your line to 10MB (if you haven't got a 10MB package already) and get something like Netflix!

We just have compact for wife's channels: cooking, Amazing race etc.

Oh ya, and Disney Junior for the little one.

I've cancelled my DSTV HD PVR subscription a couple of months ago and haven't looked back since. I have PLEX server running at home which I watch on our living room TV via a PS3, or, via Wifi on any i-device in the house. I've also found that a lot of full shows are on Youtube including stuff from the food network (diners drive-ins and dives, iron chef america etc.) so I just stream those shows via the youtube app on my PS3 as well via our ADSL line.

To be quite honest, besides live sporting events, I don't see why anyone needs a DSTV subscription. It's saving our household R750 per month. And let's not forget - their prices have been on the increase a lot lately. At what point will people begin to think that what they're getting might not be worth the money. R800? R900 per month? No thanks. I made that call early.

As for kiddies shows: you'll be surprised at the what you can get for R300 on DVD. You can get full series of great toons like Ducktales, Samurai Jack etc. Let's say you choose to spend R300 per month on a new cartoon series for the kids. It's still a huge saving, AND you have the benefit of having absolute control over what your kids are watching. And lets face it - the cartoons which they have these days for young kids is absolute rubbish compared to the stuff we had. I'm still captivated by stuff like ducktales with epic stories and lessons and proper quality animation. Ben10 se gat.

Dude, StarSat isn't really an option. You are going to be terribly frustrated if you go that route.

Try to manually clear the errors by using DSTV Self Service website, which can send signals to your decoder. If the issue persists, Google the code. Usually, someone has figured out what each code means (usually on the DSTV and MyBB forums). That'll give you some better ammo in case you need to phone them again.
    That's what she said.

I tell you what...if you could set up a netflix like (low subscription) sports streaming service, you'd make a packet in SA.
