Most interesting note on FTL travel is E=mc^2. Mass can't travel faster than light without falling back on itself, ultimately creating a black hole.
However Einstein dismissed quantum mechanics, so yeah...

I remember watching a show called Sci-fi science where they looked at the principle of bending space around one's spaceship, thus bringing point A and point B closer together - also you could move at FTL speeds while remaining stationary relative to the space immediately around you.
It talks about interstellar travel, not light travel. So aliens from other parts of the milky way should have by now been able to reach us with spaceships traveling thousands of times faster than our current ones, but nowhere near the speed of light. Think 30-40 year trips![]()
Watch my latest video on YouTube, all about a Portal 2 turret! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFpwGxsRAt0
Also true. I think we will kak off at first (if we meet a more advanced race), but once we get our hands on some better tech and even the playing field, they are going to have a real fight on their hands.
In a perfect world it would be more of a "Starfleet" scenario where we have moved past our aggressive nature and actually have a sense of honour. Peacefull contact is the first priority.
