Yes on both, I also kinda like string theory ala a Grand Unified Theory and this leaves an opening for interstellar travel, by means of using a "shortcut" via dimensional(branes) travel.
My only issue with that is that should String Theory be confirmed; could we actually have a method of moving in between the branes whilst maintaining both energy and atomic stability?
