    Default Abandon capitalism: Numsa

The National Union of Metalworkers of SA on Sunday called for capitalism to be abandoned saying it had failed South Africans.

"We at Numsa have no illusion that only a total destruction of capitalism and all it represents, can save the earth and give birth to a new civilisation," Irvin Jim told reporters in Johannesburg.

Jim said capitalism was imported by colonialism.

Though there does need to be some sort of mix of capitalism and socialism, the very rich should contribute a bit more to the country and to help out the poor.

Bullshit. If someone has earned their wealth (Not inherited), no matter the amount, then they have sole rights to it. Period. If someone cannot make it as big as some rich people then it's their own damn fault and they shouldn't claim "inability rights" because they feel the rich person must support them.

But I will say that if you are rich you should sow some of that wealth into other people's lives and help out the less fortunate, but it should be out of your own volition and not because you're forced to.

So you're saying the people who have $70-80 billion dollars should be required to do nothing to help the poor? I'm not talking about middle class, talking about poverty stricken people who have no money, no home, no education and cannot find a job. Honestly helping them would be a drop in the ocean to some of the mega rich.

    This.

We all pay taxes to have the country operate in the black. If a government is corrupt and steals all that money then it's not the rich's fault. In any case you will find the rich paying more taxes then you ever will because they all run successful companies in one form or another (Not talking about actors or singers etc...) and they get taxed on all that revenue. So really, the rich are the backbone of every capitalist country.

And the rich should help poverty stricken, but it must be of their own volition and not by law, otherwise all the money stolen from them means nothing.

Bill Gates is one of the richest men alive and helps out thousands of people in 3rd world Africa and other countries, but he does it because he wants to.

South Africa isn't even capitalist, technically, we're already socialist.

You mean like paying more taxes? That already happens, the problem is that the government misuses / squanders / embezzles that money
