Default What would you consider as your "dream" rig?

I thought this would make a interesting topic for discussion regarding PC hardware, specifically "gaming" hardware.

Now I get that any PC gamer has got an idea of a "dream" rig, one where money is no object and you can have absoluteley anything that you want but what do most people consider a "dream" rig?

Is it really neccessary to run 3 x 27" inch monitors connected to a rig that costs the same as a small hatchback car or would a single 27" inch screen be more than enough to comfortably play games at high settings.

Sure, there are people who have 30k+ gaming rigs but is the performance and experience so much better than the guy running a 10k rig and enjoying the same game?

I'm bringing up this topic because I'm puzzled as to what some people would consider adequate and what they would consider going overboard.

For me a "dream" rig would be something that isn't going to bankrupt me to build and that would last me a couple years.

Something simple with a single monitor and a rig between 10k - 15k in value.

What are some of your "dream" rigs?

I'd favour ~15k for box only & then rather shorten the upgrade cycle. The bleeding edge is called that for a reason. Better to be one step behind that and cycle faster.

Accessories...the sky is the limit. e.g. If you want a projector instead of screen then you can double/triple your budget.

For me it's the opposite. I'd prefer to spend more on components that are new and powerful now, so that I don't have to upgrade them as soon. As an example, I bought my laptop when it was brand new and quite expensive, so far it's lasted me 5 years and I've upgraded the RAM and added an SSD, but compared to a few of my friends who got okay laptops and then upgraded and then bought a new one sooner down the line, I've saved quite a bit
