Interesting review. Being a huge fan of the first game I was also expecting a lot from the sequel and I, for one, was not disappointed. I agree that the stealth sucks, but it is a such a small part of the game that it should not have an impact on the final score. I also didn't find the story or the open world approach to be bad. Sure, there are some plot holes, but that did not make me enjoy the game any less. The combat is great and boss battles are pretty damn amazing. If you played the first game you would know that it too had items in the world you couldn't get to until you had the right gear. It was a bit easier to go back and get them with the chapter select, but I actually enjoyed exploring the castle and the city to look for relics once I had finished LoS 2.
I agree that the platforming is a bit on the easy side, but it never bored me and I never had any issues with Dracula not going where I wanted him to. I don't understand how the reviewer always has unspent experience points as even once I finished the game there were still upgrades I needed to buy, then there is also the chupacabras shop where you can buy relics. Yes, you're magic bars are limited, but you can upgrade their capacity with the right relics and once you understand how focus works and you master the combat you should almost never run out of magic to use which in turn makes the combat upgrades very useful.
I see a lot of reviewers have mentioned how confusing the 2 game worlds are, but I wasn't confused in the slightest. Yes, the first time you "go" to the castle you're left wondering what the hell is going on, but once you accept that the castle exists in another (almost timeless) dimension everything makes sense.
EDIT: Forgot to mention this. The stealth parts, while they aren't the best, actually looks like it is a homage to the original dracula movie, there is a scene where Dracula turns into a bunch of rats and Dracula's pose (especially the red glow of the eyes) is very similar in the game. (I didn't discover this, read it on another forum, but it makes sense to me).
Despite the lukewarm reviews, I think I will still grab this soon. I quite enjoyed the first one and hoping this will still be enjoyable. At least I will be playing it with very low expectations
Really weird that this game is getting bad reviews every trailer I watched in the build up to release made it look awesome,I am still going to play it but am not going to pay full price.
