Starbound South Africa - Gamers Haven server

So for those who are unaware.. Starbound BETA went live yesterday, one of the creators who made Terraria possible Finn Bryce.

Some time ago i hosted a CubeWorld server but that failed badly as there was basicly no support or active development from Cubeworld to have a active server going without issues, but i've done some research and Starbound seems way diffrent and they have active development going and updates that goes out rather quick.

About the Game

The game is massive, completely procedurally generated and has a lot of content still to come. Expect a storyline, quests and buggering shit-tons of stuff to do.

If you liked Terraria then this is probably a game you'll fall madly in love with.

Something to remember... The game is in early beta. Your worlds and your characters will regularly be deleted until it moves from the "Progenitor" phase into the "Automaton" phase. You can read more about all that and what to expect here: http://playstarbound.com/how-the-beta-is-going-to-work/ )

What i'll bring to the table?

Myself and a few friends have decided to get a South African Starbound community going and get a dedicated server started which will be hosted 24/7 in a Datacenter in Cape Town.. meaning low latency for everyone to have fun on and enjoy the game.

* 24/7 Starbound server which you can enjoy with your friends and the rest of the SA community.
* Low Latency where everyone can join and have a great time with a open world of players.
* And most importantly.. keep the server updated with the latest updates thats released by Starbound so that we will always run the latest server software as they release.

Just to correct you, Starbound is made by ONE of the two people who assisted in Terraria's development, Finn Bryce (also known as @tiyuri on Twitter).

And Starbound in itself is a huge effort and consists of a much bigger group than Terraria's three-man team: http://playstarbound.com/team/

Bryce primarily worked on Terraria's graphic design whereas Andrew Spinks is the gent who designed and programmed Terraria (and can be credited as "the guy who made Terraria"). The music was composed by Scott Lloyd Shelley.

The New balancing patch is out about 700MB

Changelog for v. Annoyed Koala 12/9/2013
HUGE balance patch, every item, creature, armor and weapon rebalanced. Leveling system entirely rewritten
Although the balance is early the new leveling system, the system is much better than the old one and we can now improve balance over time.
Added early implementation of creature taming (more features coming soon)
Added new mining items
Added new weapons
Added new throwable items
Added grappling hook
Added new boss and new sector of the galaxy
Added a stance system to weaponry, not currently used but will allow us to add secondary attacks to weaponry very soon.
Tons of new sounds
Guns more common in tier 3
Underground detached/rare biomes more common
Underground random encounters more common
Underground chests more common
Ore rebalance (probably way way too much ore at the moment, will be fixed later, enjoy it)
Baby monsters
New monster palettes
Added pixel compressor for high cost banking (idea from Ncrpts)
Disable using the beamaxe to light caves underground
Added new hats
some monsters now graze on grass (can look ugly, needs finishing)
Small bipeds now socialise with eachother
All the monsters behave smarter and are less likely to get stuck
You can no longer attack through blocks
Fix the game on XP (hopefully)
Tons more fixes and smaller additions
