Well, part of the media. Keep in mind that Naspers owns and controls Huisgenoot, You, Drum, Finweek, Rapport, Die Burger, Beeld, City Press, Daily Sun, The Witness, Volksblad & News 24 to name but a few and they have apparently donated a large sum to "an official opposition party"

Also the biggest newspaper competition group is run by Independant Newspapers (www.iol.co.za) and covers the following publications :
  • The Star
  • Saturday Star
  • Sunday Independent
  • Business Report
  • Cape Argus
  • Cape Times
  • Daily News
  • Mercury
  • Isolezwe
  • The Post
  • The Independent on Saturday
  • Weekend Argus
  • Pretoria News
  • Diamond Fields Advertiser
  • Daily Voice

Naspers controlled News websites tend to shy away from pro-ANC messages; Whereas ANN7 and SABC tend to show more pro-ANC news.

Now, armed with this information...where are you getting your news from? How unbiased and "independent" is the news you are being fed really?

Let's look at this quickly from the front page of News24, IOL, EWN & ANN7 (focusing on local politics and not other crap news)

News24 - ANC very vulnerable in Gauteng - Zille
IOL - No DA, EFF coalition
ANN7 - No DA, EFF coalition
EWN - SABC accuses EFF of seeking publicity

Both IOL & ANN7 rely heavily on news agencies like SAPA, Reuters, etc...

SAPA has been accused of pushing pro-resistance (in other words pro-ANC) news during the apartheid era. Again, how independent is the news you get? How can you guarantee that the message you are getting is not a sanitized version of the truth? You can not, we are led to believe what the real people in power wants us to believe.
