    Default Quotas for Currie Cup, Super Rugby?

    http://www.supersport.com/rugby/sa-r...=og.recommends

    Ok so i read this yesterday and it really pissed me off because the first thing i see is this.“We’ve been put under serious threat by government, and we don’t really want to have government intervening in sport.", Then what the fuk are they doing now?

    Does our government really want to fuck up our sport pride and heritage so badly that we do not even exist on an international front and can't be a competing nation against other nations? Why in the blue hell do you want to take the only thing we as a country are still remotely good at and fuck it up too?

    This is nothing short of a racist push to get more South African sports stars to get out of the country. Don't get me wrong if you deserve to be there by all means i'll support it every step like Beast, Chillie, Lwasi, Sbu, Trevor, Tonderai, Scarra to mention a few. Those players deserve to be there but i wonder how many that will be forced into these teams will be labelled as "quota Players" and will want to play under that branding and to always thing in their minds "i'm not here because i'm the best at what i do i'm here because i'm black,colored or indian" Yeah i'll prolly be called a racist for my outburst and so be it but i'm passionate about my sport and if your going to mess with it your going to bring out the bad in me(and no i'm not a racist)

    we already have a problem with 70% of our top players leaving to go play overseas this shit is going to cause a mass exodus of players leaving SA expect what happened to the bulls to start happening more and more to all the other SA teams and pretty soon Kenya will beat us at the world cup and we'll be a once proud rugby nation deduced to the laughing stock of rugby.

    I wonder what's going to happen if supporters suddenly stop supporting their teams and buying their merchandise and leaving stadiums empty and start cancelling their tv subs and what not. then where will the money come from for paying these Quota players forced into teams, where will the money com from to pay for Minister Fikile Mbalula Luxury Car and house(corruption will prolly still pay that)

    I can already see name changes being forced on provincial teams from next year and next will be the green and gold

    Bulls=Donkeys
    Sharks=Babers
    Stormers=Geelbekke
    Lions=Brandsiek Katte
    Cheethas=Hiënas
    Springboks=Plaasbok(can't put the other name here )

    So guess i'll take that Chiefs jersey out the plastic and start wearing my Silver Fern one of these days

    This is a very short sighted and infuriating decision from SARU. I honestly believe that all sport should be based on the natural talent and skill of the individual player and not the skin colour of the player.

    The fundamental problem is that there is not enough development being done by SARU, or any other sport governing body, to introduce the sport to more people across the country. Maybe the fact that more white people are in the Springbok squad is due to the fact that more white kids are introduced and coached from a very early stage. Maybe if SARU can look at coaching and developing a more diverse demographic from an early stage, then this will not be necessary.

    I firmly believe that if SARU can create a developing plan together for many young black rugby players (probably still in Primary school) then these kids will grow up into the players that every coach would want in their teams. This is negate the need to quotas, as you will have more than enough people of every race performing at a very high level.

    You cannot fix a falling house by mending the roof...you have to start with the foundations and work your way up to the top. This is something that I've felt is very lacking in the whole debate. SARU and the government are not concentrating on the actual problem, and thus no real skill level is developed from a younger age. To simply "give" players opportunity to play for a team they don't deserve to play for is in itself discrimination against the player that is capable of playing on that level. This will fix nothing in the sport.

    Should this is a wide and serious implementation, I can't see any reason of a player that is dropped from a team because of the colour of his skin to stay in this country, and like AT said, there will be a massive exodus of good players in search of less discriminating playing fields.

    I support this statement but you know what this will never happen and that is what makes me sick.Amother thing why do we as supporters of our various teams put up with mediocrity I hear this all the time "Ah well they tried there best I am still proud of them",this is how the disease of being happy with second or third gets started.Demand more not less.

    Does this work in reverse? Are we going to see more whities in our 99% black football team? We may actually qualify for a major a tournament if we do!

    Because our current team is dismal? We've limited our pool of selectable players because football is perceived as a "black" sport in this country, when it's in fact multi-racial. Quotas have been, and always will be, total bullshit. Players should get into a team based on merit, not on skin colour. White and coloured players are overlooked simply because they're not black, not because they're not good enough to represent the country.
