I bought Forbidden Island and I'm hoping that it's going to be awesome.
When an anti-piracy method is affecting the game for people who legitimately bought it and causing other people not to buy the game, there is obviously something wrong with it!

Nice! I've heard that it's really good. Played any Blood Rage yet?

How do the mechanics compare to standard Risk?

First off, one of the players has played many versions of Risk, and said this is by far his favourite. And I had to explain the Mass Effect story to him, as he's not a (non-board) gamer.

The big differences are if there are 4 or 5 people, it becomes team based. 2 Alliance, 2 Reaper, 1 Cerberus. Cerberus just needs to control all the orange labelled planets to win. Alliance needs to find the crucible (one of 5 chips on the board), and Reapers get the Harbinger. The Harbinger can destroy a planet (with a card), and the Alliance needs to beat it first before attacking the planet it is guarding.

Seriously, I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

(Note: The Normandy and Grunt are from my collection, they're not part of the game )

Ah, thanks. It sounds a bit different and at least it's not just a tacked-on skin but rather a full-themed variant. Looks awesome.

Those figures look very cool next to the game.

Ya, I've played Clone Wars risk as well as the basic game, and I have to say, it was horribly unbalanced. They did a really good job with the balance on this one.

Ya, next time I'm planning on playing Cerberus, so I'll have my Miranda out to be my Cerberus cheerleader

I'm looking to do build trays this weekend, but I am not sure exactly what material to use. I am going to go to an art shop and see what they have, does anyone have any suggestions?
