Thread: Wedding Ring Vs. Engagement Ring

Default Wedding Ring Vs. Engagement Ring

    Soz for Random account.
There are pretty good reasons for it.

Like the subject above, WTF is the difference really?
Could someone explain why you would spend R5000+ for a Engagement ring then when the wedding comes you spend R10 000+ for another ring to say you are married?

It's because we were programmed to do it that way... even if you do not believe in giving a ring, try getting your future wife to buy into "not getting a ring"

Get a simple wedding ring and join the 2 together for one ring

I never expected or wanted an engagement ring. Firstly, I hate jewelry. Secondly, I think spending all that money on two rings is pointless. The engagement ring I got was a family heirloom and is now safely locked away. We wanted our wedding rings to be custom made and spent our cash on those instead of buying me a fancy schmancy engagement ring I'll never wear.

Sounds promising, any recommendations on local retailers?

Since you provide details, do you have any details on the places used to custom?

I can honestly say it all unfortunately depends on the girl involved. Ironically most of the females want the splashy ring that costs way to much money = just to show off to their family and friends. You get a few of us who prefer simpler and cheaper rings. I am one of those, IF I ever get engaged the ring may not cost more than R1500 and our wedding bands must be plain and simple. I refuse to spend that much money on rings that could rather go towards a down payment on a house.

Vernon White made ours from scratch including the actual shape of the band and engraving inside and out. Both of us were extremely happy with their work. My husband hates cheap jewelry and it was his idea to use Vernon White. Think they cost R10000 total ... can't remember.

I was also surprised when i heard you had to have two rings... I have also already told the bf i do not see the point of two rings and when we do get married the engagement ring will also be the wedding ring

Technically though... He has a PS4 because of you... Soooo...

I propoesed in December, and the way I understand it, the Engagement ring is supposed to be the expensive one, and the wedding ring just a "band"
