Eidos Montreal just released the system requirements for the new Thief game.

Now that we're done tinkering and optimizing every aspect of the game, we can finally announce the minimum and recommended system requirements.

    Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows Vista with platform update
CPU: High-performance dual core CPU or quad core CPU
    RAM: 4 GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon 4800 series / Nvidia GTS 250
    DirectX: DirectX 10
    HDD/SSD: 20 GB

    Recommended Specs
    OS: Windows 7 or 8
CPU: AMD FX 8000 series or better / Intel i7 Quad Core CPU
    RAM: 4+ GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD / R9 series or better / Nvidia GTX 660 series or better
    DirectX: DirectX 11
    HDD/SSD: 20 GB

We've partnered up with AMD to leverage the advanced capabilities of Radeon graphics processors, including AMD's Eyefinity multi-display technology, TrueAudio, Mantle API, and state-of-the-art DirectX 11 rendering for the best image quality on PC. If that's given you an urge to upgrade your rig, be sure to check out AMD's Never Settle Forever offer. You could get Thief for free with the purchase of a brand new graphics card!

You can also preorder the Master Thief Edition on Steam or your favorite digital download service. Created especially for the PC, it includes a bunch of digital bonuses - comic book, art book, soundtrack and a booster pack of items to speed up your progress in the game.

Interesting that the recommended is an i7, I would think it would run fine with a i5 or even an i3.

Not too bad, the game isn't even demanding judging from the recommended specs

I agree, usually its lower than a i7, because that is the best intel cpu, wonder why a i7 as recommended?

Yeah makes no sense, I think the i5 games better than the i7 (unless it's a 4770K )

I'll be able to play it at least, I think this will fill the gap that Dishonoured created, at least I hope so.

Perhaps the game has been heavily threaded instead of relying on stronger single threaded performance and the i7 is better suited for this than an i5. Eurogamer has an article that goes into detail about this shift in game development.

Maybe they inflated the requirements or they're just really bad at optimization? I honestly can't see that a game in 2014 that's still running on the Unreal Engine 3 can have such high requirements.

Maybe its using the engine's full potential for the game.

Rubbish. 10 internet points says you can max the game with an i5 if the GFX is strong enough. i7 lol...

Seriously which fool drafted these specs.

Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD / R9 series or better / Nvidia GTX 660 series or better
R9 is cutting edge...Radeon HD covers a lot of ground...like 5+ year old tech...yet they are both presented as recommended spec. The 660 is also not even close to comparable to R9.

Man I hope these okes are better at building games than writing specs.
