Yislike I know my tattoo artist hated doing those. Dude just tell the artist what you want. If he is a good tattoo artist he will be able to get what you want or even better. We can't help you in that regard Remember it has to be proportioned to your body part.

Beo, i have an excellent artist here in Kloof dude. He did mine and my ladies for our son who passed. What are you thinking about getting, plus what have you budgeted for?

A tattoo is no laughing matter, i forgive the lack of detail you have put forward but i respect that its a personal choice etc. After meeting you at the DBN braai i can only gather its for the kid etc?

Take this to PM if you need to bud, you can also check out my thread of my tattoo in the forums if you need to.

@Beotek: I hope my earlier posts didn't come across as trying to make fun of you because that is not the intention. I was trying to give some honest advice in a light hearted way.

Sorry but, tribal is so overused. If you go tribal you got to go at least a full arm and/or shoulder otherwise it just 'floats' on your arm leg and looks silly. It can also become a pain to work into eventually.

As someone with 6+ tattoo's (all mostly on my chest, back and arms) I would recommend you go with something that you will love, not like like. Why? Because it's going to be there for the rest of your life (if you choose so) so you'll want something meaningful, and if you have it removed? Well there is going to be a scare of what used to be there.

I found it both entertaining and educational 44, thanks for the input

PS: Do you have a tattoo of Mrs 44?

No. Me and wife wanted to get matching ones on our honeymoon but the artist warned us we should stay out of the sea for a bit to minimise the risk of infection. By the time we left, we didn't have any money left.

But based on my own observations and advice from inked friends there are three things that need careful research and study before getting a tattoo (I tried to point these out with the 10 Commandments posts):

    1. Decide where you want the tattoo. Obviously you don't want something on your neck if it's going to cause trouble in your professional life.
    2. Next decide what you want. It is no use getting something on your arm that doesn't really look good there or getting something that doesn't match your personality.
    3. Be careful when you pick the artist. There are some great guys out there but also less great. A friend of mine had a small Ankh symbol done that came out so badly, it cost him thousands to get it fixed later.
