E3 this year is going to be interesting with more games going to come on Next Gen
Only been glued to far cry since the 3rd one which is the same time I got the first one, really enjoyed them both but hadn't played the 2nd as it was not open world and didn't think I'd enjoy it.

Far cry 2 was open world though. And an African setting which was interesting. Fun hearing the enemies swearing at you in Afrikaans while they look for you.

Serious?! I read an article before getting FC3 that FC2 wasn't open world and something about it being a departure from the first game

Far Cry 2 was very much open world, the map(s) were quite large.

The problem with far cry 2 was that it had infinitely respawning enemies all over the map. You could not drove from one place to another without taking on hordes of enemies

I found it easier to travel by river, then you don't have checkpoints to worry about

No doubt that article was either written by someone who didn't know what he or she was talking about, or someone who hadn't played the game. Probably both.

It is most definitely a departure from the first game. They got that part right. It's sort of like GTA but in first person, with plenty of side quests and stuff to do at your own leisure. Sandbox-style gameplay. Fun, but gets stale and very repetitive after a while if you ask me.
