The main reason i got it was because i got a decent price for my old PS4 and had that voucher for the difference. I needed to upgrade my hard drive as well, so i thought about all of it and it seemed like the logical step. If i were you and you need to buy a new PS4 i would only go with the Pro regardless of your current set up. My main driving factor was the possibility of a better PS VR experience. I havent had any of my games run worse than on the old PS4, if anything the load times are better. This crap about the pro running games worse than the normal PS4 is people that havent updated games with a pro patch from my understanding. But i have played lots during december, Final Fantasy, South Park, Mine craft, Uncharted, Don Bradman cricket, Dying light, all with no problems.
In short if its an option i would go for it, future proof yourself now, because you know you are going to want to at some stage.
