Default Anyoby experience issues with steam store lately?

I have been having an issue with the steam store since yesterday in that I can't seem to be able to buy anything. It fails every time after putting in my (newly acquired ) credit card info. It just says "an unexpected error has occurred. Your purchase has not been completed." I have used to card to buy other stuff online so I know it works and there is definitely more than enough available on the account for the purchase. I am trying to buy the Deadliest Warrior expansion for Chivalry and it is 75% until tomorrow only. Will be really miffed if I miss out on the awesome price because of this error.

EDIT: Please excuse the typo in the thread title. Only saw that after hitting submit.

It might be unrelated, but the only time I encountered an error that said that was when I tried to get a free game for my 2nd pc (2 accounts) which had family sharing enabled. For some reason, because my main pc already had the game (and was therefore sharing it) it refused to grab the game from the steam store. Had to disable family sharing (de-authorise the account on main pc), restart steam (on 2nd pc) and then I could "buy" the free game (on 2nd pc).

TL;DR try fiddling with your family sharing/shared games and see if that has any effect. Good lucK

Send me a PM if you don't come right & I'll buy them as gifts to lock in price.

Chances are that the AVS is screwing over you purchase though...take a good look at any numeric values you are typing into the address fields...

This is really starting to frustrate me. I have given up on using my CC and decided to use a virtual credit card (VC Pay) instead, but now I am getting a different error. This time I don't even get past the payment selection screen. As soon as I click on purchase I get this message: "There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance.".

I googled it and came across a post on the steam forums that suggests deleting all the files in your steam folder (except steam.exe and steamapps folder) and then restarting your PC. I have now done that but I am getting the exact same error. This is really annoying as I have already transferred the money to my VC Pay account.

Have you tried doing it through the Steam website?

Yeah I just tried that now. Gonna try using a different account and buy it as a gift and then contact steam support as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. I managed to sort it by buying from my brother's steam account and gifting to myself. I have no idea why the purchase didn't go through on my account but I have contacted steam support.

I'm not sure, but I doubt it. I activated his steam account on my PC for the first time tonight to buy the stuff that I wanted.
