I went to the midnight screening at Canal Walk.
Seeing all the die-hard fans was certainly funny. They made everyone queue outside of the doors into the actual cinemas for some reason, and when they opened the doors the screetching/cheering began. Thanks to some fools arriving late the movie started around 10 minutes late, and a lot of people for some reason got confused as to which cinema number they were supposed to be in, but I'd rather have waited than had people coming in all the time at the beginning of the movie. I was surprised at how many guys there were...at least a third-a half of the cinema I was in.
But, on the the movie - I was impressed by it. I enjoyed Twilight more personally, but I think that's probably due to me having watched the Twilight movie before I read the book series, and now that I've read the series I knew what to expect and could identify what they didn't have time to include etc. The special effects are far nicer than in Twilight, and they stuck to the book quite religiously. The only thing I was disappointed with was the Volturi. I didn't find them dark enough...I found them quite funny actually. I'm surprised Dakota took such a minor role in the movie.
That being said, New Moon was my least favourite of the books, so I'm stoked for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I just hope they go the darker route, as the Harry Potter films have gotten steadily darker over the years. If they don't, well I guess that's what True Blood is for!
