    Default Starting a Youtube Channel

So my friends and I are looking at creating a few youtube channels and posting crazy gaming stuff we do and reactions.

Im also looking at how can make money from youtube, but there is sooo many terms and rules, Its hard understanding them.

With the whole music and game content laws Im not sure if I post a game play add a snipping of a song in and posting a link to the song in the description will my video be banned or not earn money.

Dont know if any of you have experience in this area?

    Need some help please.

You gonna need to come up with an original idea, for starters. Channels similar to those ideas already exist and you might not get a lot of views.

To make money from youtube, you need to be unique and have 100thousands of views per video ( not sure exactly of the views ) but you need to become a "Google partner" as well and they have pretty strict rules.

I think for starters, just post random videos on your youtube account and share them to your facebook profile, for starters.

When things starts to get pace, you will get more views and subscribers.

Dude no offence, but you need to read various guides on the net and stuff, even youtubes TOS, it says that you cannot monetize gameplay vids, HOWEVER this ways arounds this. A simple gameplay video with no commentary will not be eligible for monetization.

With regards to music i HIGHLY doubt you will be able to monetize, maybe if you have like a snippet of a song in like a 30-60 min video. But if you use an entire song and post like a montage type thing, you will need permission from either the label or the band (Depending on who owns the rights to the song).

Also if you get friends/family to view the video this will go against your google adsense account (What youtube uses) and can get your adsense account actually banned.

But as slaai said you need to think of something original to get a hold of views, although not necessary, it will help, also the quality of videos you produce will also help.

Tips: Always try to upload at least in 720p (If you cant at least 480p)
Encode your videos before uploading to youtube (A 35-40 min video should be about 400-500mb at 480p)
Try keep a schedule, if you say to your viewers that you upload daily, well then upload daily (youtube scheduler can help with this)

Update: Also dont use monetization straight away, have your channel going for a few months and then try. Not just off the bat.

@DuckKnuckle NO Im not doing it to making money, the only way to make money is to go and work for it.

@blaaislaai @_Caboose_, thanks for your input.

I just thought I would record me and my friends playing games and show everyone the nonsense we do, also a few of my friends love to make nonsense with my brother and it is super funny the way he reacts.

The one time he through our xbox remote at our one friend and it went through the main window in the tv room, It was sooo funny.

Just saw you can make money on youtube just didnt know how, Im doing it for my own fun.

Videos of game play with music on top will not earn you money. They'll get you views if they're good, but as previously mentioned, you'll need to pay for licensing if you can get them.

Guys like PewDiePie, LevelCap, JackFrags etc all make money as they provide commentary on their videos only.

Just posting videos of stupid things happening (like a remote being thrown through a window) is over-done on youtube. You have entire sites like Failblog.org that caters for that stuff. Also, the whole jackass scene has died. Thank goodness.

If you're going to make a YouTube channel, it should be to showcase creative stuff. Stuff that actually took effort. That's the stuff that gains followers and, maybe, make some money in the end.

Random clips of you guys acting like fools is not going to work. However, take clips of people acting like fools and add some funny commentary on them (ala Tosh.O) and you've got a gold mine. But not everyone understands comedy to that degree where their comments will actually be funny
My ignore list: growing too fast to keep updating.

Your allowed to post gameplay videos as long as there is commentary, also stay away from putting any music in there that isn't your own.

Also keep in mind you need thousands of views to start earning small amounts of money. Read up on the TOS and the different ways to make money, if I recall its based off people who actually click on the advert and whether they let the whole advert play through.

All you need is to get consistently high views on your videos, then YouTube will run ads on your videos. You get money from the ads.
