not sure on the years but Freespace 2, Starlancer and Tachyon: The Fringe also need mentions here!

wish they'd get new sequels or atleast remakes with today's gfx engine tech

    Play games, not platforms

Allow me to apologise in advance, but when it comes to great gaming, albeit on a PS (i'll have to ignore that aspect of it) but someone has to make mention of Metal Gear Solid: 1998

    Copies sold: six million copies
    Average Rating: 94/100

"It is recognized by many critics as one of the best and most important games of all time" - Wikipedia

PS: I've read on Wikipedia that it was later ported to PC, so I guess it counts in this discussion.

It was, I have MGS1 and 2 on PC. Still hoping for an MGS3 and 4 port in the comming years.

MGS 2 took something like 2 or 3 years before it was released on PC, and done so very much under the radar, like MGS1

'97 I was already working my ass off.
Sadly didn't get a lot of gaming time and I was working and gathering every penny I could, but Curse of Monkey Island, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, MDK, Hexen II, Quake II and Wing Commander: The Prophecy would be my favorite picks.
What the mind can conceive, it can achieve.
