So, I tried the DOOM Beta over the weekend on PC....my PC just is not even remotely strong enough to run this game, so it did not go well. But it was a fun presentation to play through.

I played some this weekend and it was a bit...underwhelming. I would describe it as Quake Lite. You pick your loadout at the start of the match (or when you die) so there is no scramble for weapons. The hack modules give minor enhancements over your competitors so it's not pure skill that wins an encounter. Double-jump is now with jetboots so the long jumps are easy, and if you faceplant into a ledge you can now climb up.
Not sure if it will ever be a proper eSport arena game because of these points.
Oh well, the idea of a new Doom was to good to be true. Cancelled my Halo pre-order.
There is a lot wrong with the game...
Rocket launcher damage is far too low, I suspect it's because they give it to you as a class/start up item instead of it being a weapon pick up. 2 hit direct kill or 4 hit splash damage kill not 6-8 shots.
No weapon pick ups except for special weapons.
Weapon pick ups are essential, so they really need to fix this.
The "super shotgun can take up to 6 shots to kill someone...not very super to me...
The hack mods system is rubbish, they've over-complicated the game (This isn't cod for the love of all that is holy), doom doesn't need to be complicated...Guns, run, shoot, kill the end.
The demon/s are fine as they are, they can only spawn 3 times in a round and can be taken down easily if a team focuses on it.
The teams are far too small. Needs to be 10v10 minimum. The maps are small and on many occasions I've run around looking for things to frag....
No dedicated servers at this point which is a HUGE no no, twitch fps needs low latency. People are saying there will be dedicated servers at launch so for now I'll let it slide.
The movement is too slow and doesn't feel as fast as say UT2004 which I would say is the yardstick.
I can already see them selling player/weapons skin dlc.
The game has very little that I like...I doubt anything will change though as it seems most of my complaints are core parts of the game (The weapon loadout rubbish).
Eat - Sleep - Overclock - Repeat
Damn...
#MuchDisappoint
Only got to play an hour or two this weekend.
They tinkered with the Quake 3 Arena formula, but it was pretty fun, I thought :P
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.
While I did not get to play, by watching live streams I did notice a lot of people had custom skins, a la Call of Duty. I saddens me that cosmetic DLC is pushed so hard in some games. Make cosmetics free and add something that it worth the money. I do believe that skins is the only DLC they could really add due to the balance issues anything else would bring.
I also noticed that almost everyone had a rocket launcher at one stage and it became RA instead of TDM/DM.
