Question building new PC on a budget

    Hi all

My cousin wants to build a new pc and is only able to spend around 8k for the case and everything inside it, any idea of what you can get for that and from where? PC is gonna be for gaming...duh :P

Well you can easy get away with 8K for every thing. The problem comes in with the graphics card seeing as it is for gaming a good one is needed.

    Asus P7P55 LX P55 LGA1156 Dual-Channel DDR3 CrossFireX R1443.86 (inc VAT)

    Intel LGA1156 i5 661 3.33ghz CPU / 3.6ghz TB* Built-in 900mhz GPU R2179.43 (inc VAT)

    Transcend TX2000KLU-4GK aXeRam 2x2GB Kit DDR3-2000 CL9 R1818.14 (inc VAT)

Coolermaster RC-692-KWN1, cm690ii Plus, With window, No psu, Black R978.60 (inc VAT)

    Seagate Sarracuda SV35.3 ST31000340SV 1TB SATA2 7200rpm R941.00 (inc VAT)

    Sub-Total: R7361.03

OS: don't know if you need one if you got one already

DVD drive is about 200 bucks

GPU is what makes it go over the edge though so i think this one is good bang for the budget.

    Club 3D Radeon HD 5770 512MB GDDR5 128-bit PCI-E 2.1 R1592.01 (inc VAT)

    Sub-Total: R8953.04

I will PM you the number of a guy I buy all my stuff from, he is a fair amount cheaper than these prices and might get it into that 8K region.

    Hope it helps.

You can also try Evetech - they're preassembled but you can customize. I've seen some DX11 i5's on there in the 8-9k range.

Strife.. where about are you? CT, Joburg. Could try give u a good price on a system if you interested.

I recently acquired access to wholesale suppliers so I can get pretty decent prices. Ive done my own system in this past month, my cousins and MissM on this forum had her PC built by non other than myself. - I've rather come to enjoy building PC's so lemme know

on a budget the best option would be to build an amd based system. there you'll get the most bang for buck

    Thanks Sgt

That spec looks pretty hectic. Its been quite helpful. At least I know I am on the right track.

I was looking at the MSI P7P55M-GD45 it still offers crossfire and is cheaper. I really dont see myself expanding heavily.

Also probably either look at 1333Mhz/1600Mhz RAM, would love to get 2000 but R1.8k for 4gbs, bit over my budget. Is there a noticeable difference btw 1333 and 1600 if im not looking at overclocking?

What PSU to you reckon I should get?

Thanks again for all the help.

R1.8k for 4GB ram is a bit. I paid less a bit less for my 4GB Kingston ram. - you can get standard ram for about R1.2k - however.. that 4GB ram mentioned above do have a few extras etc so its a bit more premium.. however imo depending on what ur doing with the machine its not THAT important.

Another option would be to buy 2nd hand for very slightly out dated parts that could still play new games. (such as an 8800 series nvidia GFX card or other equivalent. And make 100% sure it works.)
