What's that supposed to mean? You complained about both D3 and Sim City despite not owning or paying for either of them. I have the full right to complain about a game I own or even want to own, just as you did, and I believe that goes for everyone.

A guy who gets something for free has a right to complain yes.

But a guy who spent money on something has more of a right to complain.
When an anti-piracy method is affecting the game for people who legitimately bought it and causing other people not to buy the game, there is obviously something wrong with it!

So... you have more of a right to complain than me.

Okay, so here we go. You (Wyzak) don't think Ubisoft is without blame for delivering a poorly tested product. You believe they should have done a better job at testing the game (despite this being a challenging task).

So we agree then. This is what I've been saying all along (and so have many others).

You're personally willing to cut them some slack because "making games is hard, man". You also expected this outcome anyway for various reasons.

You didn't pay full price because you got it on special and you reckon you have a product that works acceptably to your standards, and therefore the expense:right to complain ratio hit your personal butter-zone of leaning toward defending the product because you can't just sit back and watch people tear Ubisoft apart (despite having conceded they should have done a better job of testing).

Within that framework, you also reckon that others shouldn't complain so vociferously because they should have known better than to buy it in the first place (business ethics and consumer rights notwithstanding).

Conversely, some of us are not willing to cut them slack, because making games is what they specialise in doing and they expect us to pay money for said games (and we expect them to work properly). We also feel very strongly about what we consider to be a poorly delivered (faulty) product and we're vocalising that.

    What are we arguing about?

Exactly :P We are having a debate on an interesting topic, where we each have different opinions but we each defend our positions and listen to the rationale of the other person, in the end we reach a suitable compromise and everybody wins. No need to make it personal.

Interesting, but do you disagree with my statement that somebody who bought an item has more of a right to complain about said item than somebody who got it for free?

Did Ubisoft give Eugene the game?

look a gift horse in the mouth

Fig. to be ungrateful to someone who gives you something; to treat someone who gives you a gift badly.
I guess if someone gives you a brand new BMW with manufacturer faults you shouldn't complain either and just accept it.

I think the core issue of the faulty product is the important discussion point, and not the method by which the user got the product.

It's plausible that someone who received a gift wouldn't be as vested in complaining about the faulty product as someone who paid for it themselves, but that does not logically mean that the person who got it for free has less of a right to complain.

Faulty is faulty, regardless of how it was obtained (I wouldn't count piracy into the obtainable methods because this is not the same as the legitimate product).
