They were on to something until they capped the letters at 4 per year. Imagine getting an email or sms with every 100 Mbs of pirated data

Wow what a novel idea, relying on people's integrity.

Lets hope the ANC doesn't hear of this model and apply it to corruption

I think this is a stupid idea. If they really want to curb piracy, I don't think bargaining on the good-will and morality of the internet will be the way to do it. They are not creating any negative consequence to piracy, thus why should anyone stop pirating? To stop something, you have to either make the alternative more enticing, or impede greater penalties to the act. Which is why I do like the following statement:

“We believe people will ultimately pay if they can get what they want, how they want, at a price that’s fair to them.”

THIS is how you will fight piracy. Not by strongly worded letters, but by creating a better platform for people to watch, stream, view and play what they want, when and how they want.

The only way to stop Internet piracy is the ISP's blocking out those sites that let you torrent things but that will never happen in this country because the ISP's know that they would piss off quite a large proportion of there customer's.

Still think your personal moral compass should guide you?

I don't know what you guys are making a fuss about. I read the article and all I could think was "in other words, nothing will change."

Actually that's the best way to do it. In the end you pay for convenience, want to pirate?
Then pay with the inconvenience of getting the game to work and not having access tot he updates most of the time.
But they gotta have to start separating movies/games entertainment from corporate software.

Movies/Series however have the current problem of torrents being the most convenient. What legit service allows me to download a move in either 720 or 1080 format in decent size and quality?

Imagine if a movie was more like a DOTA2 cosmetic item, which you could trade.
One which can be traded in for discount for the next movie if you wanted to.
