NewBee rules Dota 2 The International

Team NewBee has taken home just over R53 million for winning this year’s The International

I must admit, the grand final games were a bit of an anticlimax because of their one sided nature, I expected more from VG in terms of putting up a fight, especially when you consider their group stage and lower bracket run. Newbee played some Dota though, pity VG didn't respond in kind (despite their convincing game 1 victory).

I also expected VG to actually take the series after their first game slaughter of Newbee. But then Newbee came back in a spectacular fashion. The way GG was called so early in some games astonished me! But it was clear that the opposition could do nothing else to win.

I really enjoyed the finals since I had no favourite team.

I think the pressure just got too much for Vici. They certainly have what it takes to win, but under those circumstances I really can't blame them. It's so easy to make mistakes, and it would be difficult for anyone to maintain the high of their first game.

It was a little unexciting to watch. Reminds me of a one-sided pub (I'm quite familiar with those )

There were much more exciting games in the tournament vs the grand finals to be honest. Then you look at rOtk being adamant about drafting the same losing strategy in game 2 through to game 4. Adapt or die. That's what we've seen in most of the previous TI finals.

Still, ViCi may not have won but still earned more than Na'Vi did when they won the first TI! Not bad!

Pretty much the same money as Alliance after winning TI3 (slightly more actually)
