Default Frustrating and Pathetic experience with DELL SA

    Hi guys

As a lot of you guys know I deal with a lot of suppliers ect on a daily basis so yesterday I had the Displeasure of dealing with DELL. Thought I would share my experience in the hope that you guys would think twice before purchasing any DELL products in the future.

So I have a monitor that got damaged and he panel needs replacing, I've done countless panel replacements with Samsung so I assumed it would be just as easy with DELL.

Bare in mind this is a R8000 Monitor.

I contacted them yesterday, I got told that unfortunately DELL does not do panel replacements any more...1st off this is shocking practice as pretty much all the major monitor manufacturers offer some sort of panel replacement.
I then get told, that I might as well just throw it away and get a new one, now I am sorry but get fucked DELL.
You don't ever speak to a client like that. Anyway my blood is boiling at this point, I then get told if the monitor was purchased with a DELL PC they will gladly swap out the monitor but other than that their hands are tied.

Utter bunch of bullshit, so I am sitting with a R8000 monitor with 3 year warranty but they refuse to even try and help. So I did a bit of digging and came across this

We’re here and ready to help you protect your investment. Dell offers 3 years Advanced Exchange Service3 and Limited Hardware Warranty4. Plus, our Premium Panel Guarantee5 ensures a free panel exchange if even one bright pixel is found during the Limited Hardware Warranty period.
    http://www.dell.com/ed/business/p/dell-u2913wm/pd

So they are willing to replace a panel for a pixel issue yet they can't replace a panel that is busted...

Honestly I've never come across such blatant idiocy in my life.

If I knew that DELL didn't offer panel replacements I would never have purchased this monitor.
Its actually quite funny that they don't mention this whole we don't fix monitors thing anywhere.

Just goes to show that they don't give a shit about home users and are only interested in helping out corporate and enterprise clients.

Unfortunately for DELL I am not done with this matter and I intend to pursue it with DELL International.

I recently paid nearly R3000 for a panel replacement on a Samsung monitor and I was happy to pay it. Its better than forking out R10 000 for a new monitor.

Anyway Lesson of the day.. Avoid DELL Monitors!!

Hmm, interesting. Maybe a screwdriver can help in this regard. You know, to assist in the dead pixel matter.

It gets better than that bud lol

So I got a call from Dell a little while ago, they are willing to give me a refurbished monitor for R3700 in exchange for my broken one...Which is ok but how do they have refurbished models yet they claim they don't repair monitors at all...

I can't give much details, but the place I go to during the day to cry (my job) stopped sourcing their laptops and screens from Dell about four years ago because of a very similar situation. We've switched exclusively to Acer and haven't had any major problems with warranties or even reliability, touch wood. So if you consider equipment for a corporate environment, Acer is well worth considering.

Edit: Might be worth mentioning that we use and reuse equipment until it's so old some PCs get Alzheimer's (they boot into 95 even if you load Win7). So we still have some HP laptops running from before we switched to Dell, but not a single Dell machine is still working.

One day, I'll grow up and become responsible.
    Probably not today.

Does Acer even have an enterprise laptop line?

We use the Travelmate series. I have no idea what the promises and contracts entail, but we have about 500 employees with laptops.

Seems like a decent line. The cheaper aspires are decent enough so I'd imagine that should be solid too.

My employer switched Lenovo Thinkpads...was a bad switch. Everyone is unhappy about it.

Well its sounds like it was a doa (dead on arival) wich they have no option but to replace it and I think you should have like a 7 days window where you can take it back for a refund for any problem on their side.

The only time I had the "displeasure" of working with DELL computers was at campus last year, and the year before last -- but it wasn't bad. I guess it's just the customer service and services (supposedly) rendered that leave much to be desired.
