Just keep in mind that you are handing over your passwords in many cases...which are then stored on the ifttt servers using reversible encryption (by necessity). Some of the connections support oauth which is much better though.
A less cloud-y alternative is something like Tasker. e.g. My phone switches off sound, data & wifi at 22h00 and back on in the morning. Though obviously its not nearly as powerful as Ifttt in terms of online services.
