To help prepare players for the upcoming update 08/09/2016, Bungie rounded up some things you should be aware of; these are listed below, as written by Bungie.
- Please ensure that you have the proper amount of space available to accept Update 2.4.0.
- Interrupting downloads may force all previous content to be re-downloaded on some consoles.
- Some consoles will attempt to verify all previously downloaded content before downloading Update 2.4.0. If any issues are found, or the verification process is interrupted, all previous content will be deleted and downloaded once more.

SCHEDULED DESTINY MAINTENANCE FOR 09/08/2016
There is scheduled maintenance for Destiny on Thursday 9/8/2016 that will include an extended downtime:
- Starting at 17h00 (5pm local time), players will not be able to log into Destiny in preparation for maintenance.
- At 18h00 (6pm local time), players will be removed from activities as Destiny servers will be taken offline for maintenance.
- Maintenance is expected to conclude by 01h00 (1am local time).
- Destiny Update 2.4.0 will be available to begin pre-downloading during the scheduled maintenance, but will not be available for gameplay until after the maintenance has concluded. For more detailed information, please see the Update Status help article.
- Players that pre-download Destiny Update 2.4.0 during the server maintenance may still need to download and install a smaller part of the update after the maintenance has concluded to complete the installation of Destiny Update 2.4.0 on their consoles.
- All players on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms will need to fully download and install Update 2.4.0 to log back in to Destiny.
- Destiny will remain on Update 2.3.1.1 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Legacy Consoles.
