Thread: Hardcore gamers are easier to sell to says Microsoft

  1. #11

Default im a hard core collector more than a player...strange

im a hard core collector more than a player...rarely play a game to completion due to a lifestyle that doesnt allow many hrs for gaming...
i hardly play much but buy and collect games often and have a sizable collection...although there is many that benefit from the collecting frenzy...i.e. my game borrowers...dont mind though...

as for hard core gamers...spending a lot of time mastering 1 game, completing games on more than 1 level, then going on and doing the same for another game within the space of a few days / weeks, that is hard core...

getting the first game, then the second then the 3rd to know that u have finsihed all in a series...thats hard core...

waiting at the midnight launch of a cool top notch game...thats hard core...especially smiling at the freebies handed out...

all in all, from the hard core collector, to the gamer is what the likes of MS likes and respects as they bring in the sales much more than the wii generation...

Thanks for the positive critique , muchos appreciated.

Thanks for your kind words , perhaps you should insult me in private in the future.
Let me explain myself as the point of my message about hardcore gamers seems to have been lost on you.
The difference between being hardcore and being casual , has to do with dedication.
You would generally be doing this with your free time,
hence my mockery of not having a girlfriend.
Being hardcore means you spend as much of your free time if not all of it ,
on the game you have dedicated yourself to as you seem to find yourself having an above average level of aptitude to advance in it.

I come from a background where I was dedicated to World Of Warcraft ,
spending all my free time and also investing money into it ,
hosting a guild website and paying for a ventrillo server.
Later buying a dedicated line for hosting the ventrillo and the guild website
as most of my guildies come from South Africa , in an effort to save their international cap .
This is a level of extremism that made me a "hardcore WoW player",
i was not merely being casual about it.

One can not play 20 games at once and state that you are hardcore at any of them.
Granted that in FPS games one can be above average and hence state that you are a hardcore FPS shooter ,
that by no means mean that you know every level and every spawning zone of every weapon / health / armor off by heart.
That would make you more hardcore , even more so if you practiced with every weapon in every game to such a level
that you actually get head shots with anything including a pistol.

Now I by no means ment to degrade what level you think you are on ,
I merely mean to say that people who are hardcore generally tend to focus on a limited about of games ,
their free time gets spent honing their skills and unless you have a girlfriend ,
relationships will suffer (unless you have the very rare lan chick for a girlfriend)

Lastly , you will start spending money on whatever you want to be hardcore on ,
for example paying for a better broadband solution if you're a online player ,
and even spend money on hosting websites and the like to improve the game of your guildies and yourself.
Next time you wish to critique me , use some positive feedback instead of cursing at me ,
which only degrades what I already think of your persona.

Sorry, but I don't think what you said above is being hardcore... I would agree with increased dedication though.

You can start comparing personality traits as well if you want to go on... because pretty much what you spoke about above would be something a perfectionist does as well. They want to do anything and everything themselves and show others how it is done. This is often people also being referred to as Power personas... cause they like power and others looking up to them and having all the attention. Can also be referred to as people with big egos / e-peen.

Anyway... I only really posted to find out more about this 'lan chick' you made reference of... what is this and where can I find one?

LOL I'm not hardcore, I just enjoy playing games for fun, the 1st time I played quack 3 at a LAN I was hooked, played played a few matches with bots every day, like half an hour, then I went to another LAN got total Pwned, and hated it, now I don't play quake 3 anymore, when they not fun, then I don't play them anymore, so I wouldn't rate myself an hardcore gamer by my standers or yours, and I don't care if the games I play are frowned apon, if they fun I will play them
