Default Buying a PS4 from Amazon

    Hi everyone.

So I am considering buying a PS4 from Amazon UK, but I have some questions!

First, the Price for the PS4 Destiny bundle is £329.00 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PlaySta...=Playstation+4)
BUT, when you Proceed to checkout and insert a South-African delivery address, the price drops to £274.17. Why is that. Is it because we don't have to pay UK tax or what?

Next, Amazon has a Global Standard delivery option, which they describe as "Amazon Global offers customers customs duties, taxes and fees ("Import Fees") estimation during checkout and customs clearance on your behalf for certain eligible countries."
With the following rates : £4.99 Per KG + £10.99 Per Delivery. Meaning £15 (bit more than 3kg. (0.2 kg controller + 2.8kg ps4 + packaging)) + £11 = £26 = R460, lets say R500 to be safe, and they take care of shipping, import taxes, etc. Does that sound right ? If feels like you should pay a lot more to import products from overseas (i don't really know how the process works).

Lastly, according to my knowledge, PS2, PS3, and PS4 all use the same power cords, so all I need to do is get my hands on one of them to connect the PS4 to a South African power outlet. Is that right ?

Edit: Also, I heard a rumor that you wont be able to play South African purchased games on a UK console (the rumor was about xbox)? Does this apply to playstation as well ?

So basically, I want to know if it is feasible to get a PS4 bundle worth R7200 (kalahari) for R5400 by ordering it from amazon?

    Any input welcome! Thanks!

I believe the price dropped due to you not paying UK sales tax but see below.
You may will have to pay VAT/Import Fee's of 7% (or more) when you collect it.
You can play any PS4 games they are region Free.
Power cord will work only if it is from the Slim/Super Slim model.

    W A R N I N G !
If you do import, it will not be covered by part serve warranty process as they see imports as 'grey units' so if it breaks in the first year, you got a A) send it back to the UK or B) pay full repair charged if they are willing to do so. Also it won't be as cheap to ship it back as it was to get here.

Other than that it should be fine.

Your VAT/Import fees i think will be more than 7%, im not sure though, but i would double check that...

I think its not worth the hassle bud...

I also looked at buying from Overseas, but in the end I chose to buy locally because of the local warranty, as said above, your consoles warranty is held with the local retailer, so if it did break you would have to send it back to get repaired. (Or pay the full repair fee)

As far as i know PS4's are not region locked. The power cable will be fine, I'm using my PS3's power cable on my PS4 and its perfect.

Usually is like 15%+- and R19 handling fee after ordering many items from US.

Ok! thanks for the helpful replies.. It seems much safer to just wait for a good local special to buy a PS4

If you buy a PS4 through Amazon and it becones defective within the first year, call them and they will offer you a refund or a replacement.

They will not expect you to send the item to the UK from South Africa as the cost and time to do so is ridiculous.

Buying from Amazon isn't a bad thing if you're okay with the wait for global delivery.

As long as it is not a 3rd party seller, they will help as I found out when using one that they don't cover anything and expect you to ship the item back.

Yeah 3rd party sellers aren't as lenient.
