I'll start of by asking what are your guys thoughts on the whole Frans Steyn saga?

    http://www.sarugbymag.co.za/blog/det...ect-bok-return

I don't fully understand the "It later emerged that he had a long-running contract dispute with Saru regarding his image rights, which were handled by a third party." What image is that now his appearance as a player of the way he gets advertised?

It's his career, it will always be about the money - he will probably make tons more playing overseas instead of for the Boks. Same problem in soccer, players get paid far more by the clubs than country.

i don't judge him. lifespan of a pro (in pretty much any sport) is short, so make all the cash you can.

but there are a few players, who (seemingly) play for passion and pride first - but as they say for each his own.

Well for some it still is about pride about wearing that famed Green and Gold. one of them is Schalla and Willie too. But if your just in it for the money and not even a little sense of pride then go play overseas . the thing is they are giving the wrong impression to our young-ens that want to reach that goal one day.

My son already ask questions about how much does rugby pay compared to working and things like that and he's only 9

And to shoot yourself in the foot for national selection is a bit dumb if u ask me and kinda tarnishes your name and puts you in a bracket of "those" players.

Look at Rory Kockett he's gonna be a french national next year and it seems he might even play for them in the world cup. Good for him cos he's decided to stay there and not go to the 3 different clubs that has offered him big money cos he can see a future for himself in france.

Ouch the pumas got the hurt put on them last night by the lions but i heard there were some controversial calls again by the ref.

I say they should bring a sub system and fine system in for referees. If a ref blows like his ass in the first half sub him with a touch judge the second half of the game, if a ref is then found guilty of influencing a games outcome by his crap calls within a review after the match he should gt fined a percentage of his match fee or be taken out of the system for a 2 week cycle.

What are your guys thought about the state of how referee's can screw up a good game these days

And Cricket Wow Kane Williamson put the hurt on the cobra's i was so hoping an SA franchise would do good in this years T20 Champs

I dunno much about Rugby, just the stuff I read when I have a chance. I do however know some stuff about the cricket world.

After reading about Ajmal being banned for an illegal bowling action it occurred to me that the series against Pakistan would have gone a lot better had he not played. Everyone is calling him the best ODI bowler currently but most of his wickets, at least during the last season or so, should not be counted because of his illegal action. If you take wickets but they are only because you were kind of cheating the system to make the ball spin more then why are you even ranked?

Same goes for the others that have been caught recently. Everyone singing their praises and how good they are and then the truth comes out that it is not actually skill but circumventing regulations to cheat.

Sorry only saw this Topic today, But I think its a Great Idea! Love me some Sports!

On the Frans Steyn issue, I was bitterly disappointed by his withdrawal, and equally surprised... I have always rated him very highly as a player, and feel he has been pushed around in SA Rugby regarding his position, and I think thats been a major setback for him. He should have been our number 15 from the 2007 worldcup, and if that was the case can you imagine how incredible he would be today? Taking nothing away from Willie Le Roux obviously, he is a fantastic player in his own right. This whole thing about his "Image"... Surely pulling out of the Springboks and leaving them so suddenly has done more damage to his "image" than what ever else was happening behind the scenes?

The Champions league Cricket I think is a great tournament, and really cool to see hos the domestic leagues stack up against each other across countries. I was VERY surprised to see the Mumbai Indians not make it through the "play offs" so to speak. Its been a really poor performance from the SA teams so far though... One could argue that the Cobras were unlucky to have 12 taken off the last 2 balls, but in my opinion that just terrible terrible death bowling... There is no excuse for a bowler to allow a batsman to take 12 off 2 for the win...

Grand Prix? The title race between Hamilton and Rosberg has taken some interesting turns, seems to be changing hands quite quickly, mainly because one of them doesn't finish the race... I have been a big fan of Hamilton since he came onto the scene, but even I can agree he has become increasingly arrogant, and full of himself... Still though I would like to see him take another title

I see that Rory Kockott has been called up to the French national team. He's been playing in France since 2011 and apparently have gone from strength to strength. I'm glad for him, and I rate him much higher than Ruan Pienaar or Hougaardt as a scrumhalf.

It's sad that SA players go oversees and start to blossom as players. Why could they not have been cultivated in SA and made into the Springboks they deserve?
