AlphaJohn and Saint_Dee are now also officers, as well James who is no longer the owner of the group - that honour now belongs to Jan.![]()
Well I might not get involved directly at this point in time, I would just like to encourage you guys, I think thats a brilliant idea go for it ,I will add you on my steam and recommend you to everyone I can.
Huge necro, as I don't want to create a new thread. So I've been thinking...
When Steam Curators came into existence, we all got quite excited to see what our favourite gaming personalities are thinking of games and what they recommend to play. Seeing as it's been over a year that it's been live on Steam, what are your opinion on Steam Curators? Do you actually look at recommendations at all? Has it made any difference on your purchasing decision making? And should we as MyGaming restart our efforts in recommending games via the MyGaming Steam Curator Page?
I make decisions on a number of factors.
1 - Demo : If a demo of the title exists this is the first and biggest factor in making a decision
2 - Gameplay video : I want to see what the game looks like when a person plays it to get some indication of the game mechanics
3 - Video review : Someone like TotalBiscuit that gives some view of the title not obvious from a gameplay video.
4 - Nostalgia/I love the previous or other titles in the franchise
Sadly very few demos of new titles exist these days
I share you guys's opinions. The Steam Curator is a nice novelty idea, but ultimately useless IMO. Way more people base their opinions on either what their friends are playing or Youtube gameplay videos. It's a shame really, because I can fully support the idea of curatorship.
