Will give it a proper run with a monster rig to get to the bottom of the insane gpu requirements.
Plz forgive off topic post below :

Hiya dude. Just the man in looking for! I am dying to play this game, but the obscene GPU requirements are making me stall. I only have a lowly GTX 560, which can barely handle LOW settings in this game :-(

What is most cost effective card you recommend for playing at HIGH setting? Is there anything better than R9 280x, in that price range?

Guys on carb selling mining rig cards for good price. Any reason to NOT go for one of those?

Strange that you say your 560 can barely handle low. I downloaded a "test version" of this game while waiting for my PS4 copy and I get an average of 47FPS on medium settings on my 550Ti. I also only have a core 2 quad and not a i5 like the minimum requirements state. Game is very well optimised if you ask me. Had I known it would perform like this on my PC I would have bought the PC version instead of PS4 version.

What CPU do you have and also how much RAM does your PC have?

well I can easily deduce that it is not a Hardware related problem, are you using a SSD (if you are is it more than 80% full?) Maybe use Guru3D's driver sweeper: http://www.guru3d.com/content-page/g...r-sweeper.html and reinstall your GPU drivers.

Just a hunch but maybe it's doubling up VSYNC for some reason, start the game and then ALT+TAB out and then go back in again.

    Hey dude

I generally don't recommend buying mining cards but if you're on a strict budget I would recommend getting one but only once you've inspected the card, make sure to get the full packaging and if possible try to get the proof of purchase. Try getting a R9 280X if possible.

I saw you mentioning the R9 290 but I doubt there pricing will drop to your budget, even with the new price cuts from AMD, those prices will only be applied to the new cards being imported, so the old stock will have to be cleared 1st.

Get an R9 280x if you can. This same man you asked advice from hooked me up with one and it's been handling pretty much everything I've thrown at it with ease. Except LA Noire, funny enough. With AA enabled it drops to sub-20 FPS sometimes, but as soon as I disable AA it jumps to 70+. I guess it's an optimization thing.

Yip the R9 280X was one of the best cards of this generation.
As for the LA Niore thing, I think its just poorly optimized bud, I've had a few 280X cards and they maxed pretty much everything I played.

Yeah I guessed as much. But it doesn't really bother me to be honest - still running in DX11 with everything maxed at 1080p is good enough for me... It is an oldish game primarily focussed on consoles, so I'd forgive it for being a sub-standard port.

Every other game I run maxed out with AA at a minimum of 40fps though, so no complaints here.

I will second or third that, my 280x that I got from you is handling Shadow of Mordor maxed out however some of the textures load in purple or yellow with the rain/lightning. No idea why, a patch will come out soon I reckon.
