Default Recent high pings with Incredible Connection ?

So I'm on the 2mbps uncapped line from Connection (IS). I stay in the Cape Town area (Strand/Somerset West).

Since about the middle of last week I have been struggling with high pings.
I usually play Black Ops II with ping ranging from around 30 -> 60.
Suddenly I cannot connect to any servers (Max ping set to 150).

When I tried Black Ops I, I connect to a server with a ping of around 60-80, and now I get kicked for high ping.

    What is happening there? Rage??

Just sent a support ticket to hear.

I have been quite happy for the most part with my ISP, although the heavy shaping, but I'm only at home in the evenings (after 18:00) during the week so I didn't really worry much.

I am not too familiar with BO2's MP system, AFAIK it's dedicated servers not p2p lobbys.

It could be that they are shaping your traffic more due to a higher demand on the network. Try something like a Afrihost 1Gb free account and see if that works. If it does then your account is being shaped quite badly.
If it does not work then the problem lies not with the ISP but with the connection itself. Exchange, router, connection or ISP.

It's through Connection, an ISP under Incredible Connection. The backbone being IS as is with most ISPs.

Apparently I'm among the top 20% of heavy users for my package...
According to their response, I'm on a 2-star rating, but when I log into my account it shows a 3-star rating.

I've only used 46GB - and we are more than half-way through the month. They say it's calculated on a 10-day rolling period - and you slowly increase or decrease your rating after each period.
Strange how in July I used 96GB and didn't have problems....
    Bullcrap.

You are getting shaped, hence the high pings. Also rolling period data/shaping policies never work.

Solution: Move to a capped option or get another ISP.

Trying out the free Afrihost 1GB account. Maybe I'll just have to get like a 4/8 gb account for gaming. But will keep my Connection account for all other times. I mean, I've been gaming on it for a while and it's been great, just now at the moment it's not. But last night after 10pm it seemed good again. But can't play late at night/in the early hours of the morning everytime you know.

Do a tracert to any website and post the results here. Judging from your post, the issue is not ISP related but telkom exchange which is "overloaded" or congested.

If the 2nd hop of the tracert is showing numbers higher than 15ms then your exchange is congested

So having my second jump time out and move onto step three is not good news. I end up reporting disconnects and slower than expected internet connections to Telkom with disturbing regularity.....
