GPU temps

Hi All

I have an msi R9280x gpu. Comes with twin frozr fans.
My average temps when idling is 40 degrees and 85 degrees under load.

I manually set the fan to run at 60% when gaming, usually brings the temps to between 65 and 75 degrees.

Are these temps normal? I want to keep the gpu for as long as possible and get the maximum mileage. Eventually running two of these in xfire if the need arises.

Open to suggestions for after-market coolers.

If the card is running at 100% load when gaming (or thereabout) then I would up the fan curve.

I have my fan curve set to 10% higher than what the temp is - 30*C at 40% - 50*C at 60% etc. Once the GPU exceeds 50*C though I up the fan straight to 100%. I usually game with headphones and the reference cooler on my GPU isn't too loud anyway.

Thanks, the stock fans on my card are quiet as well. I'll change the settings.

As far as I know, 65 to 75 is still quite within acceptable limits for GPU temps.

I haven't really noticed at what temps my GPU runs when I game, but I think it maxes out at about 70 degC. The highest I want to see my GPU at is 80 degC, and then not for too long.

Joker will probably be able to give some better input though. Sure he will reply here, otherwise perhaps just send him a PM.

I old GPU, an NVidia GeForce 8800GT (which still works (ish-ish)) runs @ slightly over 90 degrees C; that card screams most of the time.
My current GPU, a Gigagyte GeForce GTX 650 OC runs between 55-6(something) @ max load (figures of some months ago).

I will update my post when I can stress test my card again, then give more accurate figures.

Me old GTX 590's ran at 90c non stop, would never crash. Ran it for year and half without problems.

sorry man, i hate to be a pedantic "Grammath Nazi", but 10% higher than 30 is 33 (not 40). And 10% higher than 40 is 44 (not 50) hehe, i get what you mean though, you got a flat "FAN% = TEMP + 10"

The fan curve is set in percentages. 40% power, 60% power etc so when I said "I have my fan curve set to 10% higher than what the temp is", it meant 10% of what the fan curve power is.
