Dead or Alive 5: Last Round Gets a Release Date
Dead or Alive 5: Last Round will release in America on February 17, 2015, and in Europe on February 20, 2015.
There's two different versions coming. The retail version includes everything you'd expect from a full price title, while the free-to-play variant offers players a taste of Last Round with the option to purchase additional content as add-on packs.
The free-to-play PlayStation 4 version comes with four 'core' fighters – Ayane, Hayate, Kasumi and Ryu Hayabusa – and has 'almost' every game mode available from the off.
Over on Xbox One, users have a free trial of Last Round where they'll have access to the same content as PS4 owners, but with a timer. Once the timer runs out, you'll have to purchase the Core Fighters pack for $4.99, which then adds Ayane, Hayate, Kasumi and Ryu Hayabusa, along with Hitomi, Tina, Jann Lee and Bass.
If you've already played Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate there's some good news. All unlocked titles, costumes and story mode progress will transfer over from last-gen versions.
One the pre-order front, there's a few different costume packs available at certain retailers, including a Ninja-themed pack for Ayane, Hayabusa, Hayate and Kasumi if you're into that sort of thing.
The first time round, Dead or Alive 5 received a 'Great' from IGN, saying "Dead or Alive 5 is, without any question, the best entry in the series. It retains its identity as a fast-paced, visually stunning 3D fighter, while shedding much of the baggage that's typically held it back," meaning this version could very well be worth a punt.
