Hi all, will be joining the Elite: Dangerous community once my Saitek Cyborg F.L.Y.5 arrives.
Anyone have advice for a beginner, or what i should focus and stay away from in the game?
Personally I would do the following for fast funds and learning how to dog fight quick:-
Camp at any resource zone and wait for the pirates to show themselves.
It is easy to do and requires less effort on looking for wanted people. For e.g. I usually hang around PSI Capricorni as the resource zone and the next docking station are 1.26 Ls away from each other.
What I do is fly around the resource zone (Out of frame shift) and watch around, there will always be 1 laser lights flashing, when you see those, race to them and scan, you will find a pirate among them.
I generally go with this kind of setup when it comes to weaponry:-
2x Pulse Lasers (Gimbled) - Small or Medium
2x Auto-Cannon (Gimbled) - Small or Medium
Take note to have the lasers at the top weapons bays of your ships and the auto-cannons at the bottom, this allows you to lead with the target, having the lasers hit the target and the Auto-cannons following the target ahead. Sorry little hard to explain but if you try it I'm sure you will understand it.
With gimbled it allows you to do sub-targeting systems which is highly effective against Anaconda's, I generally bait anaconda's to follow me towards the federal guards. Once the guards has started attacking and the Anaconda's is now focusing the guards, I assist them in bringing down the shields, once the shields are down, I open fire with everything I have using the sub-targeting systems to focus on the vessels power unit. When you do this, you will find that the Anaconda's Hull would be at 34% meanwhile the power unit will be at 5%. Which at that point a few more shots and the 47 000 cr's is yours.
I only use the pulse lasers to bring down the targets shields and the auto-cannons when I want to get that last hit in. You will often find your kills credits get taken away due to the guards taking the last hit. Hence why I take auto-cannons, it allows for that extra burst damage coupled with your lasers.
Since you are starting with the small ship, have 1x Pulse Lasers (Gimbled) and 1x Auto-Cannon (Gimbled). Oh and dont take on Anaconda's till you got a eagle or viper.
1.1 goes live today. Can't say i'm excited really.
Elite: Dangerous 1.1 goes live tomorrow with community goals and discovery tags
Meh, basically put it on hold until 1.2 (Wings) come out. They still haven't been able to fix the text-chat after almost 2 months... https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...=1#post1738052
When an anti-piracy method is affecting the game for people who legitimately bought it and causing other people not to buy the game, there is obviously something wrong with it!
Heh the new downloader sucks. Failed to update my client twice last night.
Yep, my update also didn't successfully complete. I also don't understand why it's necessary to re-download the launcher itself every now and again, surely they can patch it themselves like other apps do.
