What I would recommend is wait for that Full Expansion pack to be available at the store again. And then buy that rather. That way it's a sort of investment into the future of the game and in the long run it works out a lot cheaper. It's kinda what I did, and so far I have not regretted it at all.

Every year will be a season of expansions. Which are updates above and beyond the base game. Such as Horizons. So yeah I think another 8 expansions are coming. The Full Expansion package some times becomes available on the frontier store. And it's more worth it in the long run like I said previously, judging by the 10 year development cycle. (I cannot remember what they actually call the full expansion package any more, but my naming is obviously wrong.)

Have a look at this video which I posted earlier. Obsidian highlights some major "content" issues. Yes I agree with a lot of the arguments from the community about the lack of content, but it also comes down to how you use it. He makes a compelling argument.
Yeah, it would not be cheap. Back then it wasn't such a tough pill to swallow. And I was riding the hype train. Like I said though, I've never regretted it at all. I would advise everyone to just save up some money in a savings account till you have enough and then wait for the package to come on sale again. It would be less of a hassle then. Only problem would be waiting till then.
