I loved the Void. It was crazy difficult but the atmosphere and the uniqueness will always stay with me.

AssCreed for the repetitiveness and BioShock for just being lack-lustered.
I've been thinking about this for the past couple of days and technically ALL games are repetitive. Some games just do repetition better than others, but when you think about it all games are repetitive. I.e. every game has a core mechanic, or set of core mechanics, whether that's racing around, shooting stuff, punching stuff, jumping on stuff, etc. and you will be repeating that core mechanic(s) throughout most of the game. I tried, but I cannot think of a single game that I have ever played that is not repetitive in nature. If you found a particular game too repetitive to the point of it boring you then it's likely that it's just not your type of game.

    /off topic

Other games with high Metacritic scores that come to mind that I just did not enjoy include: Metal Gear Solid 4, CoD Modern Warfare 2 (and pretty much any CoD game after that), Bayonetta, God of War, Gears of War, Halo and pretty much any strategy game. I just did not enjoy playing any of these games and I realised a long time ago strategy games are not for me. There are a few exceptions within the strategy genre such as X-Com Enemy Unknown and the LoTR: Battle for Middle Earth though.

You have a point there. But the first Assassin's Creed did a poor job of handling that repetitiveness. Blatantly tuning you to do the same thing without tweaking the formula at all in some cases. Other games try to keep it fresh with alternate scenarios or tasks, but not these okes.
    That's what she said.

I agree 100% with you about AC1 being repetitive to the point of it being boring. To be completely honest, I haven't even finished it. I just watched youtube videos to fill in all the gaps after I played AC2 and became a fan of the series. Even as a pretty big AC fan, I cannot see myself recommending the first AC game to anyone looking to get into the series. AC2 and all the games after did more than enough to keep the games fresh though IMO. I know for a lot of people that still was not enough, but I found enough fresh ideas in each title to keep me engaged in the series and I'm really looking forward to both Unity and Rogue.

I've heard mix reviews about the rest. Black Flag looked pretty cool, though.

You've only played AC1? No wonder you think the series is very repetitive. I remember playing AC1 when a friend of mine just got his PS3 back in the day and I absolutely hated it. Only did like 2 missions when I realised I am going to be doing the exact same thing over and over again for the rest of the game so I just stopped. When AC2 came along I took a gamble and got the Black Edition (mainly because of the awesome Ezio statue) and loved it from the moment I started playing and I've never looked back. What the AC series does really well is give you awesome historic settings to explore and the way they integrate actual historic figures with their own fictional characters and story is really awesome IMO. Yes, the gameplay can get very repetitive, but for me it's a good kind of repetition.

You should give AC2 or Black Flag a try sometime, you might be pleasantly surprised.

I agree. I hated AC1 and only got back into the series with Black Flag, mainly due to my love for pirate themes and tall ships. I was blown away by how much better the game is. The stupid flag collecting changed to stuff that actually matter and have a minor impact on the game.

I'm really tempted to get AC3 at some point, despite the critic reviews. I love the time period the game takes place in.

I liked AC3, just don't torture yourself too much with all the collectible items.

For me it's Street Fighter IV (93), or any Street Fighter game actually. Don't like the graphics which look like crap, the controls or the actual gameplay. I'm a fan of fighting games but have to say I prefer Mortal Kombat or even Tekken.
