Default Youtube now supports 60 fps

YouTube is currently rolling out video support for 48 and 60 frames per second after initially announcing the support in June.

To see the levelled up support in action, users can view several videos running at 60 fps such as Battlefield Hardline multiplayer trailer, VGHS Season 2 trailer, Titanfall gameplay and a World Record Mario Kart 8 run. Users are required to watch the videos in 720p or 1080p in a Google Chrome browser.

Sony launched the long awaited YouTube app to PlayStation 4 with the console’s Software Update 2.0 earlier this week. The YouTube app offers 1080p videos and 5.1 channel audio, along with a new YouTube on TV design.

The work lappie doesn't do very well with resolutions above 480p, so any video supportive of this I will have to view on my PC at home.

Does youtube still use MPEG-4 compression? Or have they moved to H.264?

    *edit*

    Never mind:
    Container: .mp4

No Edit Lists (or you may lose AV sync)
moov atom at the front of the file (Fast Start)
    Audio Codec: AAC-LC

Channels: Stereo or Stereo + 5.1
Sample rate 96khz or 48 khz
    Video Codec: H.264

    Progressive scan (no interlacing)
    High Profile
    2 consecutive B frames
Closed GOP. GOP of half the frame rate.
    CABAC
Variable bitrate. No bitrate limit required, though we offer recommended bit rates below for reference
    Chroma subsampling: 4:2:0
2 Consecutive B frames, I guess they have to use such settings to keep the time for it to compress lower.

Here, have a "cinematic experience" in 60fps.

    Fucking. Gorgeous.
