    Default xbox 360 video issue

    Hi All:

My xbox recently started to behave strangely.
When I turn the box on only sound will come through and no video signal. I know this because my monitor is still in stand by mode.

Sometimes it will work if I do a Resolution reset but most of the time it doesn't. Once the screen even turned purple and the picture is not centred...

Any one know what's wrong with this? Will this be a prelude to RROD or something else?

If it's not RROD anyone know cheap places that I can get it fixed in Cape Town?

Dont thing its a prelude to RROD. It does sound like the resolutions or something might not be set right for your screen. Have you changed it from 70Hz to 60Hz and played around with the video settings a bit?

Other thing it might be the av cable. This is new to me.

Check with the simple (cheap) stuff first. If you've got a mate with an Xbox, try using their AV cable instead. Also try using a different monitor or TV.

This doesn't sound like an incipient RRoD, either, but something more like a signal fault.

Maybe your frequency is set to high on the xbox, try lowering that, ive had it a few times on my moms old sony tv

I've tried with my friends cable still the same thing so it's not a cable issue.
Tested the monitor with my laptop and video signal was good.
I hardly doubt that it's a refresh setting issue as it was working for months and the problem just occured suddenly.
Resolution reset does not resolve it as it will only get a signal now and again.

And have you tried using a different TV or monitor with the xbox and same cables? Is your Xbox and TV local stock, as in bought in SA?
