I think it's a good move. Seriously doubt that selling games is a major revenue stream, so one less game is no biggie. However, now tens of thousands of morons who petitioned are probably so chuffed with Target they might do all their Christmas shopping there.
First of all: I will not move to Australia - ever!
Second: I have not hit a woman with the intention of doing harm (in spite of all the violence I have experienced in videogames) <--- says "()" in -semi-sarcastic voice.
Thirdly - I (virtually) attack men and women alike in a game (like GTA), but do not reproduce these acts in any physical means. At least I feel conflicted about doing it in games sometimes (especially to women); I do it for comic relief and feel bad later.![]()
It's interesting how this petition was started by prostitutes. I can imagine scenes of guys picking up prostitutes and then killing them can be offensive but I also wonder if changing one or two mechanics could have prevented this. Ie killing prostitutes doesn't give money and when you do you get chased by gangsters with rocket launchers.
