I tried the installer, sadly for me, the S3 mini isn't officially supported by Cyanogenmod, although I see the big S3 is. So I had to get an unofficial build and flash using the recovery method.

I must say, I'm becoming a big Android fanboy, my phone was really starting to irritate me, but I'm really enjoying it again now.

I tried the CyanogenMod installer on the site as well for my S3 (full size) and it said my device is not supported

Odd, is it the i9300? It's on the list of supported devices http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Cyanog...ported_Devices

    Maybe it's a new addition...

Well it says it needs the stock rom installed, so maybe doing a factory reset first might help

I rooted my S3 and installed CM on it and my word..so much better. I now have a G3 and I want to root it just haven't gotten around to it just yet. Thinking of flashing it with a Lollipop ROM since I don't believe there is a CM release for the G3 at this point? Correct me if I'm wrong.

just installed the CM one click thing and i must say it was an easy process.

it gave me a scare when during the process it decided that it could not communicate with my S2 anymore but after restarting my pc and phone it all worked the 2nd time round.

Samsung Galaxy S2? That's a big upgrade, you should enjoy it.

Glad the installer works well, I'm going to try it out with my wife's S3. I just had to do things the hard way because my phone wasn't supported.

Even rooting it, I had to install a Windows app because Towelroot doesn't support it either.

I see that with the installer, you don't even need to root the phone, but I would anyway so that I can put on a custom recovery and do a backup before I start mucking with the system partition.

I must say that my battery life hasn't been great lately, but it might just be because I'm fiddling with the phone all the time now, where I wasn't before, and it wasn't quite making it through the day anymore before I flashed it anyway, so I think my battery might be getting a bit old.

I am trying to keep it charged up as much as possible so I don't get stuck with no phone when there's load shedding, so I haven't seen yet how it does over the course of the day.

What I have discovered, which is awesome, is the profiles feature, which lets you turn things like wifi, bluetooth, gps, portable wifi, etc on and off (and change the different volumes, etc, etc). What's really awesome is that it has triggers, so I've now set it up so if it connects to any of my wifi networks, it switches to my work or home profile (which turns bluetooth off), and when I disconnect from the wifi (by eg moving out of range on my way to the car), it switches to my default profile (wifi and bluetooth on), then when I start up my car, the bluetooth connects, which switches the phone to the car profile (and turns off wifi). And it all happens automagically.

I also found Google Keep, which I'm now using rather than re-installing Evernote, and I've been playing with the "OK Google" feature (from the home screen, say "OK Google", and then ask it something, and it'll do a Google Search, sometimes even reads an answer back to you (eg, say "OK Google, what is the answer to life, the universe, and everything?"), and it actually works really well. I don't normally like speech recognition software because it doesn't work well without an American accent, but I have mine set to UK English, and it's picking what I say up very impressively.

The profiles seem to be a nice feature.
