    It makes a case though.
    1. he says: " Well...Yes." (Would this not indicate a somewhat yes.I.e. there are variables that will affect a definite yes?)
    2. He confirms wont be able to play cooperative (Does not elaborate, Is that single player? Is that Vanduul swarm?) - No context to it so we can all assume there.
    3. Offline servers can be modded and will have fixed player count, confirmed you can change Stats?(What is the stats? what is stats?)
    4. big one here: IT'S NOT THE SAME SCOPE (What is? Marine commander, hangar module, Vanduul swarm, PTU?)

All the things he said was like a politician, not giving indepth details as not to over promise.

You need more context on the private server discussions that have been ongoing over the past few years.

    1. There are always variables that will affect a definite yes. I also need to point out that that video is at least a year old, possibly more.
    2. The first part of the answer relates to SQ42, that is pretty clear.
    3. Whichever stats you like, I would say. i.e., you can edit the ships/weapons/item stats like you would when modding any game.
    4. Scope as relates to the private servers has always been about the scope of the universe itself, not whether the PU is in the scope. Private servers will not have all 100-odd star systems or the full AI and economy simulation, because your home server PC simply cannot run the full scope of the PU which they are going to host in the cloud.

Here is a bit of context for you (emphasis added):

    https://relay.sc/transcript/10-chairman-episode-67

Priscilla asks: What is the scope for offline play outside of SQ42? Will I be able to visit planetside areas such as Arc Corp where I am the only one not an NPC, or go into the larger universe offline where it’s just me and an NPC world?

So currently we don’t have any plans for an offline version of star citizen mainly because we have so many parts that revolve around a huge simulated universe. So the only way we make this universe feel alive is because we have a detailed simulation running 20 million AI on a server that communicates with game servers and our solar system servers and that’s not practical on a single player mode.

So you know since squadron 42 is your single player game and then star citizen is multiplayer, either it’s sort of Massively multiplayer online using our whole infrastructure, which scales and can handle you know lots of players millions of players or there is the private server option which we’re going to do which will be after the squadron 42 and the massively online stuff is all up and running. But the private one will be more akin to the way freelancer works where you can run your own server. you definitely wont be able to have millions of people on it and probably wouldn’t be 1000’s. but it would be more sort of like freelancer with 100 or so it would be server stood up that you and your friends or whatever could match into and go around and the universe would be more static than it would be in the sort of vastly massively multiplayer simulated one because we got a lot more servers and computing power in the cloud and were sort of doing things that of kind of similar to what people have been talking about what the cloud can do for you, where you can put a lot more of the simulation up in the cloud and make the world richer so you know that unfortunately makes the single player game in a sort of Freelancer way style, privateer style, much harder to achieve.

I mean we probably could do a dumbed down more simpler version of the universe and it would look great and have lots of cool stuff it just wouldn’t be quite as dynamic but that’s not currently on the plans you don’t know whether or not maybe we’ll do that in the future, but currently that’s not on the development plans

If you can tell me which episode of 10ftC the video snip is from, I'll find the transcript for you.

Still doesn't provide much information for me to believe we will have the private server options. Yes a year old and now we are here with Amazon cloud.

Ow well will wait for something concrete.

My point is, up to now the feedback has still been that private servers are still on the roadmap, and the Amazon move doesn't affect that. But, since they only plan to do it after the PU and SQ42 are out, you'll likely be waiting a few more years anyway.

Been a while since our last update in this thread, so...
    • Yes, Star Citizen is still in development, presently at Alpha 2.6.3 on their live servers.
    • No, there is still no confirmed or committed to Beta or Live release date for either Star Citizen (the MMO component) or for Squadron 42 (the standalone single player component).
    • Yes, despite the above, the project continues to take in more and more backer funds with the funding counter presently sitting on over $146-million.
    • No, despite an ongoing FUD and Refund campaign, there doesn't seem to be any noticeable slow down in funding from backers.
    • Yes, the Alpha version available at the moment is still pretty bare-bones content wise, but there's certainly enough there to keep players entertained for a while.
    • No, the Alpha version available at the moment is not a completely unplayable bug-riddled crap-fest. There are bugs aplenty sure, but nothing overly unusual in an alpha version released specifically for large-scale user testing.
    • Yes, development progress on Star Citizen is being made in many areas (see video below of the Javelin destroyer for example) and the public release yesterday of CIGs' Alpha 3.0.0 project schedule plan indicates that progress will continue to be made.
    • No, (sadly!) we still don't have any official indication of progress being made on Squadron 42. A much hoped for (and hyped by CIG themselves) S42 vertical slice demo never materialised, and other than the occasional "work on Squadron 42 is continuing well" mention, very little is known about the games true development state.

As I mentioned, the 3.0 production schedule was released yesterday, and it is huge in it's content and scope. Initial Aim Date for the 3.0.0 release is 29 June, but the schedule itself indicates work all the way through the rest of the year and into 2018. Here's a visual summary of the plan:

(Full size here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/m...Key_Lines. png )

More detailed notes broken down into each of the various areas can be found here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/schedule-report .

They also released a fascinating (in my opinion) Behind The Scenes video detailing the process involved in developing their Production Schedule. It highlights the true scope and scale of this project, and I think anyone interested in large scale software and game project management and development would get a kick out of watching it:

Finally, a bit of spaceship porn to satisfy those with such "needs" (myself included - I cut the video together myself to get relief. "Hi my name is Greg and I am a spaceship porn addict.") This one shows all the visuals of the Javelin Destroyer ship taken from this weeks' episode of Around The Verse (the weekly Star Citizen news show). The Javelin is a ship I hope to be able to eventually earn in-game. Eventually.

Edit: Just discovered that TapaTalk automatically parses links to media files. Apologies to anyone who landed up loading that 23MB .png file on their limited data plan. Bad TapaTalk, bad.

Same. Sadly, with the amount of time I'm able to spend gaming, getting my grabby hands on one is going to take me a really, really long time in-game. And even then, it probably wont be enough.

Couple of vids that popped up recently... first is another from Obsidian Ant (legendary Elite YouTuber) who looks at the Alpha 3.0 plans:

And then a fan-made cinematic which has just reminded me that I really need to spend some time with the Director Camera tools that CIG put into the most recent release:

The quality of some of the content that people are producing at this early point of development regularly impresses me.

Too much I have a Cutlass Black, a Dragonfly, my original package pledge base Freelancer that I upgraded to a Freelancer MIS, a Sabre and a M50 for a little racing maybe. Hoping to eventually add one or two bigger ships for some multi-crew/org shenanigans - definitely the Carrack, and maybe a Genesis Starliner for a bit of a difference. Not sure I'll keep everything to game launch though. May melt some ships and stock up on UEC so that I can buy fuel in-game

Oh, and I have just an Aurora on my separate Grizzled_Geek profile. That one was sponsored by a mate as a Zero-to-Hero challenge. The challenge is to see how far I can get in-game starting with just the one basic ship.

What's in your pledge cabinet then?
