    Default Rogue Legacy

    My Entry

Rogue Legacy (or Rouge for you WoW players)

This game recently came onto the free PS Plus rotation, and having recently purchased a Vita, I thought what the hell I need to fill this thing up with games.

Little did I know what this game would do to me.

This 2D world seems to come to life every single new dungeon run, the procedurally generated castle changes for every new generation of your Valiant hero, who seems to charge fearlessly into certain death.

Every new generation in your ancestry gains different skills or disadvantages, these are randomly generated along with the class type. This system gives you enough change in gameplay every round to ensure that it doesn't become stale. Your character feels unique for each run, and playing to the strength of each class is vital if you want to ensure a decent dungeon run.

The world sucks you in for your seemingly short lifespan, this game is ridiculously hard and completely unforgiving, leaving you no room for error. After every death the game makes you think to yourself "I know what I can do better next time".

This difficulty always pushes you towards your character development, every time you are slain, you get to upgrade something in your own keep, ranging from your usual attack, critical strike and magic damage upgrades, to evolving certain classes into the next.

You can then upgrade your armor by finding your smith's blueprints in chests, and upgrade your runes, which which give you boosts like life steal, additional gold gains, or movement upgrades, by completing certain fairy chest objectives, like taking no damage in a certain area, or defeating all enemies in an area.

The steep gold cost for every upgrade really makes you feel like you have achieved something each generation, adding to this is the fact that any remaining gold you have left you "donate" to the evil Charon, otherwise known as "that ass@%#&". Thereby ensuring that each run you start off with no gold at the beginning.

The charm of this game comes from the graphical aesthetic and the light sarcastic humor present around the world. It's a world that keeps you wanting to have "that last run" , which usually continues for an extra few hours. It takes a hold of you and doesn't let go until you finally get that upgrade you have been waiting for.

I am not usually a fan of platformers, but this changed my view of the genre, and I look forward to sinking many more hours into it's unrelenting world.

I don't think I'll be able to finish a game this month and get an entry in. But Crableg's entry is so good that he deserves to win.

    *edit*
Actually I did end up finishing a game now: http://mygaming.co.za/forum/showthre...Played/page128
But I won't enter this month. Will do so again next month.

Default Metal Gear Soild: The Twin Snakes: Legends Never Die

Might as sweep in and steal the prize at the last minute , odds are 50/50 after all. Although there is tough competition.

Metal Gear Soild: The Twin Snakes. Legends Never Die.

You Haven’t Even Taken The Safety Off, Rookie.

I have a dirty secret, we all have them. Mine is that I’ve only ever played one Metal Gear Solid game, which was Ground Zeroes. With MGSV: The Phantom Pain’s launch sometime (hopefully: p) this year, I’ve started replaying the older MGS games.

Yeah, you’ve got a great butt.

The challenge of remaking a game that many people regard as one of the best of all time, was bold to say the least. But with a Tri-Force of fantastic talent, the combined genius of Konami, Silicon Knights and Nintendo managed to re-make a masterpiece of both story and gameplay.

Metal Gear Solid is a tactical espionage stealth action game, which I’m sure everyone already knew. The player controls the impeccably named Solid Snake. You also get to meet his new friend, the primary antagonist named Liquid Snake. When you combine the two of them you get Semi-Solid AKA ‘Mashed Potato-Consistency' Snake. Writing a review for this game is like writing a review for Super Mario Bros, what can I say that hasn’t already been said?

I’ve Been Waiting For You, Solid Snake. Now We’ll See If The Man Can Live Up To The Legend!

You know, I’m actually really terrible at Metal Gear Solid so it’s a good thing that the game-over screens are really entertaining. In fact I’m pretty sure that when Psycho Mantis read my memory card, he said: “Man, you suck at this game”. The soundtrack is also fantastic; my favorites were Ahhh-hhh-hhh-hhh and SSSSNNNNAAAAKKKEE!

The Twins Snakes is more than just a dying simulator though, it’s a fantastic game and you can see that a lot of hard work has been put into it. Aside from a few camera quirks, it’s aged remarkably well. The visuals still hold up, the art direction is excellent and the dialogue, music and sound effects are perfect. The series is known for being campy with some, or more like all, of the cutscenes, but it still feels as if the focus is centered on gameplay.

You don't know how good a cigarette tastes in the morning.

The Twin Snakes has it’s quirks which it embraces with open arms. It may occasionally require you to backtrack 20 or 30 minutes just to go pick up some rations. When you play the game for the first time it’s often not immediately clear as to what you’re supposed to do. It doesn’t hold your hand, and in fact you’ll find that there are many different ways to get through the different scenarios that you find yourself in. Everyone who loves video games needs to play this one, it’s just fantastic.

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is the type of game that thinks outside of the box. Pun intended… because you know, the cardboard…nevermind.

    You like Castlevania, don't you?

Bah I had a perfect entry but I guess it's too late with 20 minutes left.
That's just like, your opinion, man.
